Reviews for NINGEN RESTAURANT
Review highlights
Based on 164 reviewsNINGEN RESTAURANT is widely recognized for its unique blend of izakaya and vegan-friendly offerings, situated in the bustling Kabukicho district of Shinjuku. Reviewers consistently appreciate the authentic atmosphere, friendly and attentive service, and the range of well-prepared vegan dishes alongside options for meat eaters. The restaurant’s location on the fourth floor of a neighboring building to Family Mart is noted as somewhat challenging to find, yet patrons agree it adds to the discovery experience. The casual, yet vibrant setting often includes floor seating and interactive chef experiences, enhancing the traditional izakaya vibe. Additionally, the diverse drink selection, including whiskey, shochu, and specialty coffees, receives positive mention, contributing to a well-rounded dining experience.
So grateful to have found a place with vegan food finally in this location. It’s on the fourth floor in a building next to family mart. They have a vegan menu. We had the vegan platter and bean curry with mushroom which was basically like rice, dal and mushroom. It was so good! Loved the vibes. We sat on the mat on the floor and ate on the table. If you do not know to sit on the floor there are lots of counter stools as well. The non-vegan menu has so many options too and lots of drink as well. Good ambience with English music!
My partner is vegan and I wanted to find someplace near our hotel. Nestled in the heart of kabukicho it is somewhat tricky to find at first, nestled next to a Family Mart up four flights of stairs. It’s a real izakaya, the staff are fun, they just celebrated seven years in the location. There’s a cool selection of drinks and food, I like the Golden Gai Coffee and Shochu. Sometimes it can be overwhelming finding a place but this one is great.
We found this place on our last night. Fantastic mini plates of homemade pickles, excellent and caring service. Great for vegans and meat eaters alike. Great calm but fun vibe. It was hard to find but it's up the stairs floor four, in the door i've included in the pics. The chef cooks in front of you and chats away. Good selection of whisky also.
True izakaya experience! We went looking for vegan food (surprise - they have a small but tasty vegan menu) and found this hole in the wall tucked away on the 4th floor. Very festive and authentic atmosphere inside. A great experience!
Hidden gem in the chaotic Kabukicho area! Great atmosphere, staff super friendly and kind. We ordered the vegan options, all very tasty and fresh, and the vegan plate of today was bimbimbap, it was delicious! A bit tricky to find this place, but completely worth it!
A super cool place frequented by locals. The food is very tasty and with several vegan options. Very nice staff. Recommended to immerse yourself in the culture of Japan
Lovely find tucked away upstairs on a lane in Shinjuku. I'm vegan and there were a lot of options and the food was really good! Also lots of Japanese people were here which is always a good sign, especially for somewhere in such a touristy spot. Everything in the photo posted is vegan except for the gyoza which my friend had :)
Fresh dishes, simply done. They had a clearly labelled vegan menu with several dishes on it. I got the vegan plate of the day which was a version of bibimbap and then some of the miso cucumber. The staff were really nice and everything came out super fast! They were also playing some jokes throwback tunes like Fall Out Boy NB: it’s quite hard to find! It’s a pink doorway with the little stickers on the last photo and you go up to the 4th floor
